4th month check-up

We went to Little Rock yesterday for Jack's 4 month well baby visit, and it went really well! He did great! He was good in the waiting room and we had a great time playing in the examination room.
He now weighs 13 pounds, 6.5 ounces, and he is 24.5 inches long. So he has gained almost 2 pounds and grown an inch and one half in the past 2 months which is GREAT!!! Dr. Malak said that he is doing perfect!
She was really impressed by his head control, which she tested by pulling him into a sitting position by his arms. He held his head up with his body when she did it, instead of letting it fall back, which means he has good head control! YEAH! I wasn't surprised though because I had read about that and tried it at home! :)
He has some dry skin on his thigh and foot that she said to use Dove soap and Eucerin lotion on, and she gave us a prescription for Vitamin D drops. And she said we can start him on rice cereal, which we're excited about!
Then came the dreaded shots, which he hated, of course! He cried and cried! It was worse than his 2 month shots, but eventually he calmed down, and once we got him in the truck he was out like a light!
Today he's had a little bit of a fever and has been really fussy and not feeling good because of the shots, but he's ok, poor little guy! I don't ever want him to get sick! UGH! It's hard enough knowing why he's feeling bad and that it's not serious, I can't imagine not knowing exactly what is wrong and what to do about it! Lord, please grant us mercy! I'm already praying for when that day comes.

FOUR months old already?!?!?!?!

Our little Jack was four months old yesterday! It has gone by so fast!!!! And I have enjoyed being a mom sooooooo much!!!!!!!!!!! What a blessing!
Jack is so cute with how he puts absolutely everything in his mouth! If you get your fingers too close to his mouth he tries desperately to get them in there. And his toys and hands are constantly soaked with slobber. It's great! We call him slobber-boy now :) We are having so much fun watching him as he changes and starts doing new things! Brian and I get so excited when he does something new!
Saturday Brian was playing with him and Jack rolled all the way over from his back to his stomach. (He has been rolling over and getting caught on his shoulder and not able to go any further, but this time he made it all the way!) Then later I was playing too and he did it again. I, of course, got super excited and Brian said, "Yeah he did that earlier." I was so glad that Brian got a "first" all to himself!!!!
He's still doing well lifting his head while on his stomach and rolling over from stomach to back. We can tell that he's getting more and more alert to the things around him. He especially responds to voices more than ever before. And he can give some looks too! I don't know where he got that from! :) He "talks" all the time! I swear that some of the sound combos sound a lot like "Mamma" :)
We are taking Jack for his 4 month checkup on Wednesday. I'm excited to see how much he's grown and gained. I also have about 50 questions for the doctor, so I need to write them all down. Stuff like: When should we start on fruits? and Is still swaddling him at his age ok? basic stuff. I'm a member of the Mommy Zone, an online forum, and I've asked a few questions on there so far. The women are great, very helpful, and extremely welcoming and knowledgable. I really like it. I asked about swaddling and got like 10 responses, many that suggested very different things which is good b/c I got a wide range of options to think about and try. But I'm still gonna grill the doctor about stuff too.
Brian and I went to see the new Harry Potter movie last Thursday and really enjoyed it! Our friends Scott, Paige, and Jaelle kept Jack, and though he was fussy A Lot, they said they liked having him. The movie, though, was good! It's way darker than the other ones, but we still liked it. My sister is bringing us the new book to read and I can't wait! I have to re-read the 6th one first. So, the Harry Potter obsession continues!
This was a pretty long post, but I hadn't posted in a while, I'll try to do better. My blog obsession has lessened considerably for some reason! Go figure.

Random Pictures

These two pictures were taken at Brian's sister, Amanda's, apartment in Starkville. Brian was so funny, propping Jack up and posing him with the remote! Jack didn't like it all that much. And then over Jack went. It was pretty darn cute!
This is my favorite way to take pictures of Jack. I can't see his face, so I never know what the picture is going to be like. Some of them are hilarious! Like the one below of him in mid-sneeze.

Play Play Play! He likes chewing on these links! I wouldn't be surprised if he started cutting teeth soon, he wants to be chewing on something all the time and the drool has definitely started to pour!
Daddy and Jack chilling out.
And here's Mommy and Jack chillin out too.
A quick update: We're doing good. We've been so busy! With church and Brian's work site getting going now, and me walking 2 or 3 times a week and Jack, time is flying. The weather here has been crazy. The native Arkansans are all astonished at how much rain we've been getting! They say it's usually dry as a bone in July, but the past couple weeks we've gotten drenched! Over 10 inches I know has fallen! It's been pouring off and on this afternoon too. but I like the rain, so it's not too bad. It does need to dry up soon though, so that things out at Brian's site can keep progressing. They've already had a road wash out, so that's holding things up a little. Brian has been much busier, which is good for him. But I miss him! :( I've kept up walking with my friend Paige, and we've gotten to hang out a few other times too this week. She's so sweet! And her little girl, Jaelle ("Jay-elle") is so cute and she loves Jack! We went swimming with them yesterday and Jack was smiling and flirting with Jaelle and her friends! He's a stud! :) It's been great to be home for a while! My parents are coming up in a couple of weeks, and then Brian's parents are coming sometime in August, so I'm excited about that! It's always fun having them here. Not much else is going on though. Just loving eachother and our little Jack man! :)

Back to Starkville

Our friends Kane and Katey played host to us, Crystal, and Hayden in Starkville this weekend. We had such a great time hanging out with all of them, catching up, and relaxing.

This is their little cutie, Camp, early Saturday morning. I can't believe how big and grown up he is! He can say names now and it's so precious! He can say "Chisholm" and "Jack" really well, and he can sorta say "Christina." He had a BIG time with the guys in Tupelo that day looking at boots and guns and fishing poles and tractors! Brian said they had such a good time! He got some good practice for when jack gets this age. :)

Katey, Crystal, Jack, and I had a super relaxing day watching girlie movies and chatting. maybe next time Jack will get to go with the men, for now he had to stay with Mommy.

Thanks so much Kane and Katey for having us!!!!! We love ya'll!

Saturday afternoon we went to Columbus to meet two of my good friends, Coop and Mary Evelyn. I hadn't seen Coop in a year, so she hadn't seen Jack yet. It was great seeing them and letting then see our little man. Mary Evelyn is having a baby girl in August. They are going to name her Brinkley Kate. How cute! Doesn't she look just adorable!

Saturday night we cooked out at Kane and Katey's house. The guys did the grillin' and then girls did the sides. We always have the best, most encouraging conversations with these friends! Truly an iron sharpening iron group! What a blessing!
Here's Jack all dressed up for church Sunday. We went to our old church, the Chapel, and saw our friends there. They oohed and ahhed over how big Jack is and of course how cute he is! Then we ate some good ole Starkville food at Peppers after church. Yum!

Sunday afternoon Jack and I went to a baby shower for Mary Evelyn in Columbus. How cute is that duckie bath tub! She got some awesome stuff! Little Brinkley is going to be spoiled! :)

We had a great weekend! It was so incredible and weird being in Stakville again. I felt so awkward driving around, but knowing that I don't live there anymore. Thanks to all of the travelling this month we are now experts at doing it with an infant, but now we are staying home for a while...so ya'll have to come see us! :)

Rolling over and over again

These pictures are from last Friday morning. Jack was doing great lifting his head and then he'd verrrrrry slowly roll over to his back. He did it about 5 times. Then Brian came home and he did it one more time just for Daddy. We both cheered and cheered for Jack. Brian was so proud, and glad he got to see the little man in action! :)
